Prior to making his BAMMA return, Jim Wallhead, the purveyor of pandemonium, said of his welterweight bout with Matt Veach: “Nothing’s going to get in my way… My training camp for this fight has probably been the best ever.  It’s hard to knock somebody out, but that’s my aim and, I believe, my ability.  I feel great – mentally and physically.  I want this more than he does.  I know that for a fact.  I’m coming back to London with a vengeance.  I want to become the world champion and I’m not going to let anything get in the way.”

The pace of this battle is insane! Jim Wallhead is one of MMA’s most spectacular combatants.  He could step into the cage with an inflatable dummy and still put on an exciting fight.  But Matt Veach is no passenger either and anyone who trains with Matt Hughes has to be a hard and polished warrior.

BAMMA 12 Main Event: Wallhead vs. Veach:

Jim Wallhead using his forearms to block Matt Veach's blows

5.00: Jim Wallhead and Matt Veach touch gloves.  Right off the bat Matt pumps out a series of rapid-fire jabs.
4.51: Veach delivers a right cross.
4.49: Matt shoots for the takedown and Jim sprawls; Matt has Jim pressed against the fence and Jim instantly reverses positions.
4.40: Veach unloads a right elbow from the clinch.
4.33: They separate.
4.24: It’s toe-to-toe warfare as Matt fires off a jab/cross combo; however Jim’s forearm guard is solid.
4.22: Wallhead jabs before shrugging off another takedown attempt.
4.16: Veach tries to tie up at centre ring then brings up a tentative knee as the pair separates.
4.10: Matt zeros in on Jim’s left leg; however Jim is having none of it and backs Matt into the cage, then peppers him with a crushing left elbow that cuts Matt near the eye.  Veach retaliates with a ferocious leather combo.  Again, Wallhead’s elbows guard his head like concrete pillars outside an enemy pillbox.

Jim Wallhead attaking with savage elbows

3.57: Matt storms Jim’s guard and catches him with a straight right; Jim replies via a right hook.
3.51: Wallhead dodges Veach’s whipping overhand right, then retaliates with another right hook.
3.44: They clinch before Jim drives his left knee into Matt’s midsection.
3.32: Veach appears stunned as he cops a sharp left hook and collapses to the canvas with Wallhead in his guard.
3.26: Jim is dumping savage elbows on his damaged opponent.
3.06: Wallhead – or is it Warhead? – storms into half guard.  He’s like a mako on speed, thrashing left elbows into his downed adversary.

2.31: Jim elects to finish the job with precision left fists.
2.18: He seizes Matt’s back and slips on an RNC, hooks in.  Matt’s face is redder than Sitting Bull’s and he’s forced to tap out.
After the fight, guest commentator Ken Shamrock says, “World wake up ‘cause BAMMA has arrived!”

Great news for MMA fans!  Jim ‘Judo’ Wallhead is back at BAMMA and ready to decimate the decibels on March 9 at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle Upon Tyne for his welterweight blowout with Matt Veach.

Jim Wallhead is one of MMA’s most exciting combatants and he is a true fighters’ fighter.  He can transition from hold to hold, or from toe-to-toe trading to takedown and submission, faster than Ice Road Truckers ‘The Polar Bear’ can slip through gears in his 18 wheeler whilst storming down the frozen Dalton Highway.

UK fighters are renowned worldwide for being tough as rusty nails and Jim Wallhead epitomizes this British warrior spirit.  But ‘Judo’ Jim is also a crowd pleaser and loves to entertain his legion of MMA fans with spectacular cagemanship as well as undiluted well-rounded skills.  Wallheads’s supporters know he gives one hundred percent in all his battles, so it’s no surprise it’s been18 fights since Jim was last stopped.

At Wallhead’s last two BAMMA outings he defeated Frank Trigg by split decision (BAMMA 7) and KO’d Joey Villasenor (BAMMA 8).  On March 9, Jim will be looking to continue his successful BAMMA run against Matt Veach.

Jim ‘Judo’ Wallhead kindly took time out to chat with Knucklepit about his upcoming bout with Matt Veach.

Jim, how is your preparation for BAMMA 12 going?

Extremely well.  I’m really looking forward to getting back in action.

You’re a totally professional athlete who’s always looking to improve his game; what areas of your game do you feel have improved the most since your victory over Joey Villasenor at BAMMA 8?

At BAMMA 8, England’s Jim Wallhead will be looking to take another big scalp, having defeated Frank Trigg by split decision at BAMMA 7, when he throws down against Jackson’s Mixed Martial Arts representative, Joey Villasenor.

And on December 10, fans could be forgiven for thinking Guy Fawkes Day is running a month late as the charismatic ‘Judo’ Jim enters the Capital FM Arena and ignites his special brand of hellfire crackers disguised as MMA skills.

Wallhead will be backed by his impressive career stats of 22-6-0 and years of high calibre cagemanship developed at one of the world’s most respected gyms, Rough House MMA.

Jim’s opponent for the night will be Smokin’ Joey Villasenor from Jackson’s MMA in Albuquerque, who boasts a similar record of 28-9-0.  The clash of these two warriors will certainly be one not to be missed as the UK’s Wallhead takes on back-to-back US fighters, and Wallhead is determined to rise to the occasion once again before his loyal hometown fans.

‘Judo’ Jimmy Wallhead Highlight Reel

JIM WALLHEAD Part 1

It’s Thursday morning in Loughborough, England.  Jim Wallhead has polished off his breakfast and he’s about to go for a run, when the phone rings for an interview.  Generously, ‘Judo Jimmy’ stops tying the laces on his joggers and takes time out for a chat.

Jim casts his mind back to when he was just a grasshopper watching his favorite movie: “I watched The Karate Kid and I wanted to do karate, but at the age of seven, my dad took me to a judo lesson instead.  I didn’t want to do judo; however Dad used to work with the coach, so I gave it a go and I never looked back,” says Wallhead.

Now at the ripe old age of 22 years, things haven’t changed too much in the life of Judo Jimmy: He’s still into the fighting arts and watching his favorite films.  “I work as a part-time painter a few days a week, and I’m training so much, I just like to watch movies and relax with my girlfriend – we’re about to have a baby in four weeks.  Really, just relaxing with my family is what I like to do most.”

After winning a number of under-twenty-one judo titles, Jim took time off when he was eighteen to “do the things most teenagers do.”  Then he went to a Paul Daley fight in Nottingham, and Jim was introduced to a promoter there who offered him a fight as a heavyweight in MMA.
